MMS students using Wikis
Do you know what a wiki is? The students in Ms. Messier’s class do! They have been using this new technology to discuss lessons and class activities.
The students are participating in two wikis, one for Science and one for Social Studies.
The Social Studies wiki started with this question. “Now that we have finished our ABC books on South America, let’s hear about some of your favorite or most unique things that you have discovered!” The students responded with their thoughts and comments. I encourage you to read their comments and leave your own thoughts on the wiki.

Thanks, Mr. O’Briant. This has really been a great teaching tool. It allows me to get feedback from my students and check for understanding. It also gives me a great forum to see what they would like to learn about and what suggestions they have for future activities. This helps me to better tailor my lessons to their needs.

I have enjoied wikispace very much. Wikispaceis a great place for all students and teachers, to go and make comments about what they are learning in social studies and science. Kids can reply to other kids questions that they put on there. It is very educational and fun to use. chelsea

I enjoy useing the Wikispaces in class. You can write your own comments and express yourself freely. A lot of people also enjoy reading our comments and listen to what we are learning .The class really enjoys it and so do I.

I love doing the wikispaces because they let the kids talk about what we can do and have a say in our next projects.

Hello, my name is Roxanne, I’m in Mrs. Messier’s 4th bell Social Studies and 5th bell Science. I love the fact that we have 2 wikispaces,one for social studies and one for science!!!! It is really fun, because we get to talk about what we want to learn about a subject and it seems like a vote!!!! Thank you, Mr. O’Briant, and Mrs. Messier~I’m so glad we have technology like this!!!

This website is a great way for all of the students and me to talk about what we are doing in that class and what are ideas are for that class.

WOW - this is truly 21st century learning!!! What a wonderful opportunity for the students to talk back and forth about school projects - take what they’re learning and have an open discussion about it…. Thank you Mrs. Messier for using the technology at the school’s disposal. Our students are lucky to have you.

What a great idea! Thank you Mrs. Messier for giving the students the opportunity to have this forum so they can discuss with each other what they’re working on in class and to get help if they have any questions. Most of all for giving them the freedom to voice how they feel about what they’ve learned and the chance to tell you what they would be interested in learning. Thank you for caring. Your students are very lucky to have you for a teacher.

I thibk having these wonderful websites are a good idea for students and teachers to communicate. It gives the teachers an idea on what the kids want to learn and maybe even gives the teacher an idea how to teach it. I think having these websites are awsome!!! Thanks Mrs. Messier!

I think Wikispace is very cool. I love to chat with different students about upcoming projects and things we are doing in class right now. I am glad that we have a Wikispace and Mrs. Messier.

Ms.Messier i really enjoy the project we are working on .You hav really become a great teacher.You hve come up with some wonderful ideas about what to do in your class. Your class is so much fun. I am looking foward to learning about space. that seems that thats going to be another wonderful thing that you will hav devloped.Thank you Ms.Messier.

I am glad that there is a wikispace ,now we can all write back and forth. it is very fun to expieriance the wonderful things that you are comeing up with on the wiki.
Now we are aloud to know what is going to go on in our class. thank you for the things that you have developed.
